Sur University College : Health & Safety Committee holds first meeting for the Academic Year 2018-2019

Health & Safety Committee held its first meeting for the Academic Year 2018-2019 on Wednesday 24, 2018 to discuss the college plans and procedures related to the health and safety in order to ensure the proper care of all SUC community through a healthy, safe working and studying environment within SUC. In the beginning of the meeting, the chairperson welcomed the committee members, and then the discussion was started as per the issues included in the meeting agenda.

The chairperson noted the main goal of the committee and its duties and responsibilities as per the terms of reference. The committee members confirmed that they will do their best to ensure the proper implementation of health and safety policy, procedures and guidelines to comply with the Occupational Health & Safety regulations in Oman. The required inspections’ reports and statistics should be provided to the committee in a regular basis. The different issues related to the training, guidelines and instructions were discussed with recommendations to support the college in their Institutional Standard Reassessment process.

Finally, the committee members provided their feedback about the proposed health and safety action plan which will help identify the health and safety issues and incidents and make recommendations to the higher authorities and to prompt health and safety awareness to entire campus community through related workshops and training as the health and safety care is the responsibility of everyone on the campus.
