SUC : LRC Virtual Workshop for SUC Foundation Department Students
The Learning Resources Center of Sur University College with cooperation of Student Affairs Department has conducted two online workshops for the students from various classes of the Foundation Department for the academic year 2020/2021 under the title: “LRC Orientation on Online Services and Resources”, held on Novmeber 29, 2020 through ZOOM platform as part of the LRC activities to improve the Information Literacy Skills among SUC foundation department students.
The workshops have been iniated with welcome speech from Dr. Mahmoud Al-Manayseh, the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs, followed by a word from Dr. Arturo Palaming, Head of Department of GFP. The online workshops were presented by Dr. Laila Samea, Dr. Rajev M.K.G and Ms. Ruqaiya Al-amri. During these workshops, the LRC staff presented a short video for a Virtual Library Tour (to explain about the resources and services available at the library). The LRC staffs demonstrated to the students how to get Off-Campus access to the Electronic databases, how to find the various kinds of links on the LRC webpage such as Workshops’ handouts, contact information, guides and tuoturials to help them get started and support their information needs for their coursework, assignments and research. In addition to that a general overview on MASADER databases and the open access databases (DOAJ – DOAB) was provided for the students.
Finally, the students were encouraged to follow the LRC news and updates through the SUC website and the LRC official social media accounts (FaceBook & Twitter) and to communicate with the LRC staffs for more support. By the end of the workshop, the students were familiar with electronic information resouces and other resources provided through the library services.
