There is increase and continuous growth and development in Sultanate of Oman and the region in architecture, construction, and industry areas. The department of Engineering offers two undergraduate degrees: the Bachelor of Science in Architectural Engineering and the Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. In 2012, SUC accepted students in Mechanical Engineering with concentration on Industrial Engineering and in Architectural Engineering. These two programs are based on the Architectural Engineering and Mechanical Engineering programs at the American University in Cairo (AUC), which were developed after a thorough review of the curricula of relevant top 20 professionally ranked US and European universities.  Similar programs in the Middle-East and Egypt (public and private) were also examined. In addition, the program herein took into account the need of the market industry in Oman. The degrees are awarded by SUC with quality assurance overseen by the AUC. SUC will establish more engineering programs.

The students require satisfying achievement of 152 credits in engineering for the award of degree. The programs are designed to satisfy the requirements of the UNESCO-UIA accreditation body or to meet benchmarking of ABET for Architectural or Mechanical Engineering, respectively.  Admission criteria provided for the entry to each program is comparable with International Standards for similar program offer elsewhere. Market analysis for the program provides an initial insight into potential demand for mechanical and architectural engineering in Oman.
